Apple iOS 8 has many features to its credit yet the thing that will catch your eye is the feature of Family Sharing. This feature comes handy when you want to share your purchases made at iTunes with up to six people including that of App Store.

It is more about setting ease and convenience for users when it comes to purchases. Another thing is that it is more about being able to add people to share your account with not necessarily family in the terms. The advantage that this feature offers is being able to purchase an app and share it with people in your personalized group. You can even restrict purchases or authorize someone as per your settings and preferences. Steps to enable Family Sharing

Requirements:

• You need to have any iOS device that runs on iOS 8

• Having an Apple account with your credit card details is essential

• E-mail addresses of contacts that you would want to add in your Family Account

If in case there is someone who you want to add but does not have an e-mail for example a child then you would need to create one for them. In such a situation, you would require to create an Apple e-mail address for them.

The thing that you need to remember is that while you are at it you will be the soul organizer or the administrator of the Family Account. If you begin making settings by yourself then you have all the authority to add people and grant permissions. Additionally, you are the only one who can add people using Apple ID credentials of a contact.

Creating Apple Family Sharing Options:

• First you need to upgrade the system to iCloud Drive, Settings-> iCloud-> iCloud Drive and upgrade it

• Now enable the feature of Family Sharing on iCloud

The process will begin that would take some time to finish. As soon as it is complete go back to iCloud and you will see the option of Set “Up Family Sharing.” Here you will get a good idea about sharing options and a link that will direct you with more information on the same. Hit “Get Started” to proceed further.

You will be taken to a page with an option of switching Apple IDs, here you can switch the admin rights with another and make them the admin.

Now comes the purchases part:

• As you move on you will be asked to confirm purchases that includes podcasts, iTunes and Videos that are available at the Apple Store. For books you get the option of iBooks.

• Similar to the previous screen, you have the option to change the account that is considered the primary one to share.

• Now, you will be guided to payments and purchases where you need to grant permissions for payment agreement. Here you need to understand that giving permissions would not mean that each member in the group could avail the facility of your credit card for payments. Ask to Buy is a feature that restricts immediate transactions.

• Sharing location is also based upon user preference; you can either grant permissions or restrict it. If you do choose to share then even the family location would be shared automatically.

• Adding family is possible in this step where you can include each member with respective e-mail address that is relevant to their Apple account.

If the notifications for unlock icloud Drive are enabled then you will be notified if your child is already a part of Family sharing. This way you will know if upon creating an Apple ID for your child has been successful and the child is a part of the group.

Go to Settings-> iCloud-> Family as this will help you view the list of people that are added to the group regardless of invites accepted by them or not. You can choose to remove them by hitting Remove option.
